ANTELOPE VALLEY, CA—California State Assemblyman and former L.A.P.D. officer Steve Knight today endorsed Rocky Chavez for California Assembly, District 76.

“I support Rocky Chavez because he is a fighter who will get things done in Sacramento,” said Assemblyman Steve Knight, a Republican representing the 36^th district. “As a former veteran and police officer, I know Rocky will stand up for crime victims.”

Knight is an army veteran who served more than 17 years as a Los Angeles police officer. Knight was also previously elected to the Palmdale City Council where he served as vice mayor.

Knight is an advocate for victims’ rights and has been a consistent voice in the California Assembly for tougher penalties for violent offenders.

As a member of the California Assembly, Knight has also fought for lower taxes and for reforms to stimulate economic growth, especially for small businesses. Knight serves on several assembly committees and is Vice-Chair of the Natural Resources and Public Safety Committees.

“Steve Knight has worked to keep us safe, both as a police officer and as a member of the assembly,” said Chavez. “I’m proud to have his support, and I look forward to working with Steve on public safety issues – and on economic reform for our state.”

Chavez is seeking to represent the 76^th California Assembly District, which includes the cities of Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad and Encinitas. The Chavez campaign is focusing on jobs and the economy, education, veterans, and government efficiency. Chavez served as a Marine for more than twenty-eight years, retiring as a colonel. He then went on to serve nearly a decade on the Oceanside City Council before leading the California Department of Veterans Affairs. 

YUCAIPA, CA—California State Assemblyman and retired Marine Colonel Paul Cook today endorsed Rocky Chavez for California Assembly, District 76.

“As a veteran and as Chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee, I’m proud to support a fellow veteran, Rocky Chavez,” said Assemblyman Paul Cook, a Republican representing the 65^th district. “Sacramento needs people like Rocky who will stand up for those who serve this country.”

Cook served as a U.S. Marine for more than 26 years, earning the Bronze Star and two Purple Heart commendations as a result of combat actions – and achieving the rank of colonel. Cook represents the 65^th Assembly district which includes large parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Cook was appointed Chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee, where he is an advocate for service men and women. Cook is also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
