FORMER CA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT ENDORSES ROCKY

SAN DIEGO—The former head of California’s largest association of physicians, Robert Hertzka, M.D., today endorsed Rocky Chavez, candidate for the 76th Assembly District. Chavez is a retired Marine Colonel and former Secretary of the California Department of Veterans Affairs.

Hertzka is an anesthesiologist based in San Diego and for years has been an advocate for government efficiency in healthcare.

Dr. Bob Hertzka“Rocky Chavez is a leader when it comes to veterans issues, and I’m confident he’ll use those same proven skills to focus on healthcare reform with sound fiscal policy in mind.” said Dr. Hertzka. “I’m proud to endorse Rocky for California Assembly.”

Hertzka served as president of the California Medical Association (CMA) in 2004. The CMA represents more than 35,000 members in a variety of practices and specialties. Its mission is to serve healthcare recipients and member physicians through legislative, regulatory, economic and social advocacy. The CMA’s political action committee recently voted to financially support Chavez’s campaign for California Assembly.

“Dr. Hertzka has been serving his patients and his community for nearly thirty years, and I’m proud to have his support.” Chavez said. “Dr. Hertzka and I believe in protecting taxpayers and improving healthcare through greater government efficiency.”

Chavez is seeking to represent the 76th California Assembly District, which includes the cities of Oceanside, Vista, Carlsbad and Encinitas. The Chavez campaign is focused on jobs and the economy, education, veterans, and government efficiency. Chavez served as a Marine for more than twenty-eight years, retiring as a Colonel. He then went on to serve nearly a decade on the Oceanside City Council before leading the Department of Veterans Affairs.
